Module Ideas

Just writing these down for future reference and so I can get some feedback. I was chatting with Lapper and he recommend a couple of enhancements for the site:
- Extended profiles — But what information do we allow people to include?
- Avatars — I want to do this, but we need standards for width, height, and file size first.
- Subscriptions — This appears to do email notifications.
Additionally, I'd like to see:
- Comment RSS — RSS subscriptions to comments and other node types.
What do you think? If you're interested in making your own suggestions, poke around on Drupal.org for new modules and enhancement ideas. We'll implement these enhancements given there's enough community desire for them.

Alright I gots an idea of some sort.
How about you set up some sort of forum for the time being.
And then later you let people customize a profile.
Make this thing like Facebook or Myspace or something.
Realy, I could care less what happens to this site but do SOMETHING.

I agree w/ you on having to get this site up running but making it like myspace or facebook... the internets had enough of teens taking pictures in their dirty bathrooms and posting them taking up space that could be used for other useless junk!

for crying out loud....just make SOMETHING happen with this site. Set up a forum for the time being until everything's laid out officially....I've never seen a site take so much time!
Look, the site's not going to be perfect on initial implementation. In time things will change for the better and down the road there will be a really solid site.. but for right now - GET ON WITH IT!!!

You can also get it by clicking the last digit of the copyright date at the bottom of any main page, and if you wait at the very end of the toon luau iif you dont click back or again it will take you to the luau main page and if you click the mustache on the menu of the king of town toon bout the eaten sheep it will reveal a block wich you click taking you to the king of town main page

Homestarrunner.com doesnt need more main characters, what they do need are some extras and guest characters to make the H*R world seem larger and more full... if that makes sense

favicon.ico
I made a favicon for this site because the default Drupal has to go.
Load it into the css or header as favicon.ico and it will change the icon from the default drupal to Homestar's star. The file can be found at my website www.hookedoncaffeine.com/webcons.
Personally, I thought about suggesting it, but it only took me 5 minutes to make one... Enjoy :D

These are all great ideas. I think a reasonable size standard for avatars would be 150x150

I like all the ideas. Just make sure the standard picture sizing is reasonable. Maybe in the extended profiles, you can include some general info about the person...i.e. hobbies, talents, interests, etc... Just an idea.

Site Enhancements
You should defiantly add an HS Artwork page. Where users can upload their own creations of HS pics.

Aggregation
I think a great module to have would be Aggregation (http://drupal.org/project/aggregation) for those HR communities that have RSS feeds. It's easy enough to make RSS feeds out of phpBB forums with a MOD. I'll install it to check it out.

I think that they all would be good ideas... if not for practical use, some people love customizing their profile to the 'max'. I know I do. :)
As for Avatar sizes, 128x128, as that guy up there said, would probably work.

I think it would make the site a whole lot awesomer'd if this all happened! It would make it easier to show our love for Strong Bad, Homestar, and all the rest of the www.homestarrunner.com cast and crew. (I think the aviators would be the best thing!)

profiles, favicon
But what information do we allow people to include?
Extended profiles should include stuff like real name, website, and maybe some contact info (like IM services). For details like 'interests' and 'activites', maybe just a box that says 'bio' would be good enough. I don't really know much about what this website is gonna be, but it looks fun.
Also, does anyone have a good favicon thing?

A couple modules that I think would be usefull.
These are some modules that I think would be really usefull.
A spell check.
This one adds bbcode support.
The spell checker is still in development though, if that is important.
I'd really like to see the bbcode support here, it something that I'm more used to.
As for avatar sizes, 50x50 sounds like it would fit next to the Subject pretty good.

Digg sized icons
I'm actually kinda partial to the tiny icons used on Digg. I'd like to see bigger icons (maybe 90×90 or 100×100) on the profile pages, and maybe 48×48 icons in a few key places, but the tiny 16×16 icons can be stuck in next to usernames everywhere they appear without interfering with layout. With a bigger sized avatar you have to rework the design to fit it in. I'll have to see how the images are treated by default in Drupal and go from there. I may enable the feature on a trial basis in a couple days just to play with it.

I think those are good sized. Basically what they have at the H* wiki forum is a neat orderly way to handle things, which in my opinion is a good thing.
An idea for something we could have in the extended profile, along with the usual info, we could also have a date for roughly how long you've been aquainted with h*. It doesn't have to be day/month/year, just something general. Does that sound good to anyone else?

Extended profiles - Well, we can have to ways to do this, a form based userpage, or a wiki-like userpage. Up to you to decide but I like a form base with a freeform section.
Avatars - 50x50 is a widely accepted size and a bigger version on the userpage would be nice.
Subscriptions - I'm not so sure about this one. It depends how often this site would update.

I agree that the profile should definitely include which community they're from. They should be able to put several up there if thery frequent more than one.
I'm not sure what the normal size for avatars should be. The suggestions seem to range from 48 x 48 to 128 x 128 and anywhere in between. A small one for posts and larger ones for the profile pages seems fine by me.
